Uganda United Nations Joint Adolescents and Youth Programme 2023-2025

The Uganda United Nations Joint Adolescent and Youth Programme (UNJAYP) is a collaborative endeavor involving 13 UN agencies to collectively address youth related actions under the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF). Broadly aligned to the global UN Youth Strategy and national frameworks and policies, the proposed outcomes and outputs of the Programme reflect areas where accelerated action is needed. It builds on the previous and ongoing UN and government-supported Adolescents and Youth (A&Y) interventions, anchored within the UNSDCF and government frameworks.

 This Joint Programme’s core objective is enabling A&Y in Uganda (age 10 to 30 years) to realize their full potential, simultaneously driving progress in key strategic priorities for the country and the global SDGs. With an estimated budget of approximately 22.5 million USD which includes available and yet to be mobilised resources, the UNYJP phase 1 will be implemented between 2023- 2025 in alignment with the National Development Plan & the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF). Participating United Nations Organizations (PUNOs) are; of 13 UN agencies (UNFPA, UNICEF, WHO, UNESCO, UNDP, UN Women, ILO, UNHCR, UNAIDS, IOM, FAO, UNODC and UNCDF).

The first phase will be implemented in the 8 districts of Yumbe, Terego, Kotido, Moroto, Kampala, Lamwo, Kiryandongo and Namayingo. They were selected based on the greatest needs in the outcome areas and investment locales of the participating UN Agencies.
