Good morning!
On behalf of the United Nations, I take this opportunity to once again congratulate the Government of Uganda, through the Ministry of Health for taking leadership on the Ebola outbreak response and for leading the country to end this outbreak within a short period.
We have achieved this together.
This morning, I am happy to see us all here as partners, with the aim to review the post Ebola recovery plan.
We all need to ensure that during the upcoming 180 days, this plan covers the critical priorities identified by the Ministry of Health.
My expectation is that we all, together with donors, review and endorse this plan. So that, we can all easily re-align our budgets to accommodate some of the key elements.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
The outbreak confirmed that for us to succeed we must all work together as partners working hand in hand.
The United Nations pledges to deepen its ongoing collaboration and cooperation with the Ministry of Health and other development partners to ensure that during these 180 days, we all take appropriate actions to achieve our common goal.
But we should not stop there! we should improve our health system readiness and preparedness to detect and respond to health emergencies and ensure continuity of essential health services.
Thank you!
