The Uganda United Nations Joint Adolescent and Youth Programme (UNJAYP) is a collaborative endeavour involving 13 UN agencies to collectively address youth-related actions under the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF). Broadly aligned to the global UN Youth Strategy and national frameworks and policies, the outcomes and outputs of the programme reflect areas where accelerated action is needed. It builds on the previous and ongoing UN and government-supported Adolescents and Youth (A&Y) interventions, anchored within the UNSDCF and government frameworks.
There are 13 UN agencies participating in the programme: UNFPA, UNICEF, WHO, UNESCO, UNDP, UN Women, ILO, UNHCR, UNAIDS, IOM, FAO, UNODC and UNCDF. The first phase is being implemented in the 8 districts of Yumbe, Terego, Kotido, Moroto, Kampala, Lamwo, Kiryandongo and Namayingo. They were selected based on the greatest needs in the outcome areas and investment by participating UN Agencies.
